Happy New Year!… Now Back it on Up.

2017 is the start of a brand new year.  New goals. New friends. New trips, New problems, New opportunities, New Chicks. New everything.  As we move on to the future, we are often told- don’t look back.  I believe it is important to “look back” because that is what we learn from.

Our household still has our beloved Pearl and Rosy.   They made it through the winter (which where we live, is no real winter) and through another crazy year!  Egg production was low, but hey, that’s normal right?  We have new goals for our girls—  new ideas to help them lay better.  Adding more chicks to our flock. Upgrading their coop to a much bigger one..  I have this idea to add a couple of goats-  yes goats- to our brood.

It is also a year of personal growth and goals.  I have ideas– ideas on how and where to expand this blog. Ideas on my family, their best interest, as well as mine.  Ridding the things (and people) that do not fit in our life– mostly the negativity.  Negative and unforgiving people. Negative problems that only bring frustration. And most importantly, becoming a minimalist.  Downsizing what we have in our home and working towards a more organized life.

One thing I have learned in 2016 is that my expectations are way too high.  I expect forgiveness, love, stability, and unconditional being from family and friends.  That is unrealistic.  It shouldn’t be though.   It should not be a bad thing to have high expectations.  If only to learn that when those expectations are not met, and you have a family member (or members) and friends that choose to act selfish, immature, and inconsiderate; have a proper way to deal without getting upset.  Still maintain those high standards and love for the ones around you and have a backup ready in order to cope with the disappointment.

Most recently, someone gave me a quote in a nutshell about what 2016 taught me:

“Don’t worry about what people say behind your back: they are the people who are finding faults in your life, Instead of fixing the faults in their own life.”

BAM!  This could not be more true…  and to the negatives this year, I say:

2017 is a new year. With a new year, comes a new chance at change.  Maybe you ought to try it too.
